Labflow Satisfaction Survey: What Are Students Saying?

Here at Catalyst, our team is committed to ensuring that Labflow works well for instructors, TAs, and students alike. We recently launched a student satisfaction survey to gain feedback from our student users during the spring 2022 semester. The responses we received from students gave us greater insight into how they feel about Labflow, which features they love, what they dislike, and more.

An overwhelming majority of students (77%) who responded said they were satisfied with their experience using the Labflow platform in their hands-on university lab course. The top features that resulted in a positive student experience for Labflow users included the ability to make multiple attempts on quizzes and reports, documents and PDFs within the course, videos explaining course concepts and equipment usage, and the ease of navigating the course.

Students clearly value having the ability to make multiple attempts to improve their scores, which incentivizes them to start working on reports earlier. Along with Labflow’s instant feedback, this feature helps students improve their scores on coursework within the platform by an average of 15%.

When it came to features that students were negative about, the main responses were areas that required more heavy lifting from the students for their reports: being accountable for entering data properly, multi-step calculations, and multi-part responses. Interestingly, “None” was in the top five responses for features that drove negative student experiences, highlighting just how many students felt positive about using Labflow in their course.

By wrapping effective digital instruction around hands-on experimental learning activities, our powerful platform prepares students for in-lab success in chemistry and biology courses—and they love using it. With Labflow, students can engage in the lab more confidently and receive timely feedback on their work, reducing the typical frustrations students face with hands-on lab courses. What’s more, Labflow works on phones, tablets, and laptops, ensuring students can be engaged on any device—anywhere, anytime.
